Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Planners groups.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
